Guidance for EMIS Access
Access to a secure system will be made via our website www.overtonsurgery.co.uk, under the Online Services option. A unique PIN number will be provided by the Practice and you will create a Password when you first log on to the system.

One pin number per family member.

Due to issues of Patient Confidentiality, this service is only open to patients aged 16 and over

Within our standard Surgery times, a selection of online appointment slots will be made available on a first come first served basis for each Doctor and each session.

SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.

If all Internet appointment slots have been used, patients will need to ring the Practice, as now.

If you are interested in joining this scheme, please read the following Guidance for EMIS Access, complete the Expression of Interest Application Form, which can be downloaded at the foot of this page or obtained from the practice, and sign the Declaration. Then pass this to the Receptionist, who MAY require proof of identity.

We will send you the Unique Pin number.

All information is handled in the strictest confidence.

Missed Appointments
Please let us know if you will be unable to attend an appointment that you have booked online. Either cancel it online, or contact us by telephone. This will allow us to offer the appointment to another patient.

We realise that there are valid reasons for not attending, however we will be monitoring such occurrences on a regular basis. If you miss more than two appointments in one year we will possibly withdraw your ability to use EMIS Access. However, you will still be able to book appointments with our receptionists.

Nurses Appointments
Due to the nature of nurses appointments we are unable to offer them online.

Doctors Appointments
Please ensure that you book the appointments appropriately.

1.Suspected illness
2. Illness
3. Follow ups to previous consultations
4. Medication reviews

Using EMIS Access, a maximum of 3 Appointments per patient can be stored within the system in any 28 day period. If you are unable to make an additional appointment, please contact the receptionist.

The EMIS Access service covers the Overton Surgery and Bangor on Dee Surgery

System security
You will be issued with a unique PIN Number and, when you first log onto the system, you will need to create a Password.

Please do not disclose this information to anyone.

Practice staff will not have access to these details. If you forget these details you will need to re-apply for EMIS Access and complete a further Application.

We are sure that you will find this Service most beneficial.

However, in the event of inappropriate use, we may be forced to revoke your access to the service and ask you to revert to contacting our reception team in order to make an appointment.

We would consider aspects such as the following as being inappropriate:

Booking appointments and not using them (over 2 times a year)
Booking appointments for other family members using your name
Consistently booking inappropriate appointments with the doctor
Sending inappropriate or abusive messages

Repeat Prescriptions

EMIS Access provides you with the ability to send repeat medication requests to the surgery. When our reception team has accessed the request it will display an "Accepted" message on your EMIS Access home page. Please note that this does not mean that the prescription is ready. It simply means that the request is being processed.

When placing an order for Repeat Prescriptions online, please allow 48 hours (i.e. 2 working days), for us to process, authorise and then pass the prescription to the pharmacist. The pharmacist will also require an additional 24 hours to prepare the medication.

If you have nominated Hightown Chemist as your preferred site for collection, please note that the authorised prescriptions are collected from Overton Surgery on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This means you will have to allow more time between placing your online order and collecting the medication.

For reasons of security and confidentiality, we do not accept telephone or email requests.

If, for whatever reason, the Doctor refuses your request, you will receive an online explanatory notification within the 48 hour processing time.

Faults
Please note that the EMIS Access system may be unavailable periodically due to routine maintenance or server faults. We are advised that this system is constantly monitored by EMIS so you do not need to report any faults. To make an appointment, simply ring the Surgeries or try later.
